Academic Roots at ICB

Dr. Awais began his educational journey at Islamabad College for Girls (ICG) F-6/2, completing his primary schooling before joining Islamabad College for Boys (ICB), G-6/3. He completed his Matriculation in 1985 and FSc in 1987, laying a strong academic foundation at ICB that would propel him toward national and international success.

Higher Education Across the Globe

After ICB, he went on to graduate from the prestigious King Edward Medical College in 1994. With a passion for broadening his horizons, Dr. Awais pursued an MBA from the Strathclyde Graduate Business School in Glasgow, UK, and a Master’s in Social Sciences from the University of Leicester, further enhancing his academic and professional credentials.

Leadership in Governance and Public Policy

Currently serving as Member Implementation and Monitoring at the Planning Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Awais is entrusted with critical responsibilities such as:

  • Developing Monitoring and Evaluation Frameworks, Strategies, and Dashboards for public sector projects and investments.

  • Conducting in-depth reviews of major development projects and providing evidence-based solutions to remove bottlenecks.

  • Ensuring the effective implementation of strategies that drive national development through measurable progress.

With over 27 years of professional experience in public, private, academic, and social sectors, Dr. Awais has made impactful contributions at operational, managerial, and leadership levels. His versatile experience includes:

  • Team Lead at the Prime Minister’s Performance Delivery Unit, where he played a vital role in converting abstract visions into actionable, high-impact projects.

  • Leading reforms for Pakistan’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking in collaboration with the World Bank, bringing measurable improvements in governance.

  • Training 11 Federal Ministries in Performance Contracting, KPIs, and Strategic Planning.

  • Translating Vision 2025 into practical implementation tools like Strategy Maps and Balanced Scorecards.

A Specialist in Strategic Performance Management

Dr. Awais is an expert in modern performance management methodologies including:

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Balanced Scorecards (BSC)

  • Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

  • Result-Based Management (RBM)
