A Life Gone Too Soon
Adnan Iqbal Khan passed away on May 2, 2022 at the age of 52 due to a sudden heart attack. His passing was a shock to all — family, friends, colleagues, and the entire ICB community.
But legends never truly leave us.
He lives on in our hearts, our prayers, and our memories.
A Tribute from Youth
Dr. Adnan’s love for cricket was not just a pastime, it was a passion that lived deeply within him, as natural as laughter and as warm as friendship. Among the many joys he celebrated in life, cricket held a sacred place in his heart, and in that world, one name shone above all others: Wasim Akram.
For him, Wasim was not merely a legendary fast bowler, he was poetry in motion, art on a cricket pitch, and a hero whose magic with the ball sparked endless admiration. Dr. Adnan expressed this devotion in the purest way he knew, through his words. With a childlike sparkle in his eyes and a heart full of affection, he wrote a beautiful poem capturing the awe and fear that even the greatest batsmen — Vivian Richards, David Gower, Kris Srikkanth — felt when standing before the Sultan of Swing.
Today, as we remember him, we also celebrate this beautiful passion, a love that brought happiness to him and everyone around him. In every swing of memory and every cheer of the game, his spirit lives on, forever a fan, forever a friend, forever Pappa, whose love for cricket will always bring a smile to our hearts.
Hearts That Loved Him — Words From Family & Friends In Their Own Words: Tributes to Adnan
A Loving Tribute From His Parents & Siblings – In Memory of Dr. Adnan Iqbal Khan
Adnan was the second of six siblings, and from an early age, his gentle heart and caring nature shone brightly. He was a brother who loved deeply, supported generously, and stood as a pillar of strength for his family. While he was the apple of his parents’ eyes, he was also the brightest star among his siblings — a rare blend of humility, brilliance, and compassion.
Adnan’s kindness was not limited to those closest to him. He was always the first to extend a helping hand, whether to family members, relatives, or anyone in need. His quiet acts of generosity, empathy, and humanity touched countless lives. He lived with purpose, sincerity, and an unwavering commitment to doing good — without seeking recognition.
His passing came far too soon, leaving a void that words can scarcely describe. Yet, we find comfort in knowing that Allah takes those He loves the most, and we trust in His divine wisdom. May Allah shower His countless blessings upon Adnan, elevate his rank in Jannah, and keep his soul in eternal peace.
On behalf of his beloved parents, we say this with hearts full of both pride and longing:
He was a son every parent dreams of — respectful, loving, accomplished, and devoted. Allah blessed us with a child who honored us in this world and, inshaAllah, will continue to do so in the Hereafter. We thank Allah for the gift of Adnan, and we pray that every parent is blessed with a child of such noble character — and granted the blessing of witnessing their long, healthy, and prosperous life. Ameen.
Adnan’s memory lives on in our hearts, in our prayers, and in the countless good deeds he inspired. May Allah grant him the highest ranks in Jannah and reunite us with him in eternal peace. Ameen.
A Love That Lives On — From His Wife, Henna Ikram
You were my partner for twenty-five beautiful years, a lifetime of love, laughter, dreams, and memories woven into every corner of my heart. I am endlessly grateful for the life we built together, and for the incredible impact you had on every part of my world.
Our three boys are living reflections of the love we shared, your kindness in their hearts, your brilliance in their eyes, your strength in their spirits. Every time I hold them close, I am reminded of you, of us, and of the love that will forever bind our family.

There is not a single day since 2022 that I haven’t missed you with every beat of my heart. Life without you has been the greatest challenge, yet it is the time we spent together, the love you gave me, that gives me the courage to rise, to keep going, and to give our boys the life we dreamed of for them.
I am grateful beyond words for every moment we shared. Your legacy lives not only in our children, but in every breath I take with strength, hope, and love, because you taught me how. You will forever remain a part of me, inspiring me to live fully, love deeply, and cherish every precious moment.
Forever yours.
Forever in my heart.
A Son’s Tribute by Abdullah Adnan Khan to His Father, Dr. Adnan Iqbal Khan
The three sons of Dr. Adnan Iqbal Khan are Abdullah Adnan Khan, Arham Adnan Khan, and Ismail Adnan Khan.
This tribute was written by the eldest son, Abdullah Adnan Khan, in 2023 at the age of 14–15.
Losing a loved one is never easy, and it is especially hard when that person was someone as remarkable as my father, Dr. Adnan Iqbal Khan (Late). My father was a gifted psychiatrist and an incredible father, and his passing on May 2nd, 2022, was a great loss to all those who knew him.
My father was an exceptional psychiatrist whose work touched the lives of countless people. He had a rare talent for understanding his patients deeply, always showing compassion, empathy, and kindness in his approach. He devoted his life to his profession, often coming home late and tired. I truly believe that his contributions to the field of psychiatry will be remembered for many years to come.
But beyond his professional excellence, my father was one of the best fathers in the world. He always put family first and ensured my siblings and I had everything we needed to grow, learn, and thrive. He was our rock — a source of strength, love, and security. He taught us the values of hard work, kindness, humility, and compassion. His wisdom and guidance will stay with us forever.
As I reflect on his life, I am reminded of his incredible strength and resilience. He faced many challenges, yet he never gave up and never lost his passion for helping others. His dedication to both his family and his profession was inspiring, and I feel truly honored to be his son.
Though his passing has left a deep void in our lives, I know his legacy will live on — through the lives he touched, the kindness he showed, and the difference he made in the world. I am forever proud to be his child and grateful for every moment we had with him.
Rest in peace, Dad. We love you always.
A Brother by Heart — Brigadier Asim Rauf’s Tribute to Dr. Adnan Iqbal Khan
Adnan was a soul too bright for this world — a heart overflowing with kindness, laughter, and pure sincerity. I first met him in 1980 when I joined ICB, and from that very moment, our bond began to grow. What started as friendship quickly became something far deeper — a brotherhood. So much so that teachers and students alike would lovingly call me his “fifth brother.”

We shared a lifetime of moments that words can barely capture — memories so joyful, so full of mischief and warmth, that even today they feel alive. We laughed until our sides hurt, planned dreams bigger than life itself, and stood by each other through every turn of life. Those were days of innocence, loyalty, and friendship at its purest — the kind of bond you come across only once in a lifetime.
Adnan had this rare gift — he could turn the simplest moment into something unforgettable. With him, there was always light, always positivity, always a reason to smile. He listened with his heart, cared with unmatched sincerity, and loved with a purity only the truly blessed possess.
Now that he is gone, the silence feels heavier, the world a little less bright. There are moments I still turn back expecting to hear his laughter or feel his shoulder beside mine. But even in his absence, he remains with me — in our stories, in the lessons he left behind, and in the countless memories that refuse to fade.
Adnan taught me what true friendship means — loyalty without conditions, love without limits, and faith without doubt. He was not just my friend; he was my brother, my confidant, and one of the greatest blessings Allah ever gave me.
Though he is no longer physically here, his spirit lives on — in every heart he touched and in every prayer whispered for him. May Allah bless him with the highest ranks in Jannat-ul-Firdous and reunite us in eternal peace. Ameen.
A Lifelong Friend Remembered – Tribute by Dr. Muhammad Faisal
I had the honour of knowing Dr. Adnan Iqbal—affectionately known as “Pappa”—since our school days. His home, located just off the first street near Melody, was always our first stop after school and the heart of our street-cricket adventures.

He was the most cheerful, carefree, and joyous soul I have ever known. Dr. Adnan faced every challenge in life with remarkable ease and positivity—an extraordinary quality I always admired and envied.
He deeply loved and respected his parents and remained devoted to his family throughout his life.
During my visits to New York for the UN General Assembly, meeting him became a cherished ritual. We would sit together, reminiscing and laughing over the countless memories from our childhood and youth—moments that captured the spirit of our bond.
May Allah grant him the highest rank in Jannat and bless his soul with eternal peace. May his parents and family be granted patience and strength to bear this profound and irreparable loss.

A Star That Still Shines — Tribute by Dr. Sultan Niazi
How does one describe the irreplaceable loss of a brother and friend taken at the pinnacle of his life? Losing my dearest and sweetest friend so early, and in such a heartbreaking way, remains the most painful chapter of my life.
I have known Adnan literally since our diaper-days. He was, without a doubt, the sweetest, sharpest, and most extraordinary person I have ever known. Brilliant yet playful, mischievous yet deeply thoughtful, the ultimate jester of our class, always lighting up every room he entered. Teachers often found themselves torn between scolding him for his antics and admiring the sheer brilliance of his genius mind. I still remember the day he was reprimanded by our chemistry teacher, only to return the very next morning having memorised the entire periodic table. That was Adnan — unmatched, unforgettable, effortlessly exceptional.

Adnan was a truly beautiful soul inside and out, a devoted and loving father to three wonderful boys, and a caring, affectionate husband. As a friend, he was the kind of person you are blessed to find even once in a lifetime. Always genuine, deeply compassionate, warm, and endlessly caring. He stood by me through everything, ready to help before I even had to ask.
I miss him every single day. I miss his infectious smile, his joyful spirit, and his carefree, happy-go-lucky nature that could brighten even the darkest moment. Life feels a little dimmer without him.
I miss you, my friend — today, tomorrow, and always.
