Madam Tahira Munir
A Divine Teacher, A Mother Forever!
A Living Tribute by ICBian Muhammad Tahir (Founder of ICBian.com)
Class I–XII, 1975–1987
By ICBian Muhammad Tahir – Founder of ICBian.com
I, Muhammad Tahir, with a heart overflowing with gratitude, pride, and emotion, declare this with complete conviction:
Madam Tahira Munir is not merely a teacher—she is one of the most noble, divine, and marvellous women ever sent by God to nurture the little souls of Islamabad. She was not just assigned to classrooms—she was entrusted with hearts, souls, and futures.
I proudly say that Madam Tahira was my class teacher in Class I-QAH, II-QAH, and III-QAH (Quaid-e-Azam House). But in reality, she was far more than a teacher to me and to thousands like me—
she was our second mother.
The Children Who Never Knew How Lucky They Were
Those little children sitting in her classroom—we had no idea how extraordinarily blessed we were. Not many children in the world are fortunate enough to be raised, shaped, and protected under the divine care of a woman like Madam Tahira.
The love, affection, care, discipline, and attention we received from her were not ordinary—they were out of this world.
From our daily classwork and homework, to our values, manners, and ethics, she shaped us with patience and devotion. She did not just teach us how to read and write—
she taught us how to become human beings.
Looking back today, after nearly half a century, I now realize something deeply emotional:
We were living in paradise—without even knowing it.
Those memories never faded.
They only grew stronger.
They only grew purer.
They only grew more powerful with time.
A Teacher Who Became a Mother for Life
For me, Madam Tahira is not just my early years’ teacher—she is my mother forever.
The kind of mother who shapes your soul silently.
The kind of mother whose prayers follow you long after classrooms disappear.
Today, as the Founder of ICBian.com, I humbly dedicate this profile to my great teacher, my mother-like guide, my lifelong blessing—Madam Tahira Munir.
This is not just a biography.
This is my tribute.
This is my gratitude.
This is my lifelong salute.
The Life & Legacy of Madam Tahira Munir - In her own words
Early Life and Education
I am Tahira Munir, a devoted and grateful retired educator who had the honour of serving at Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) for three meaningful decades. I completed my Bachelor’s degree from CB College, Rawalpindi, and later earned my B.Ed. from Lady Maclagan College, Lahore.
My teaching journey began on an ad-hoc basis in 1968, and on 1st September 1970, I was appointed as a permanent teacher. After 30 fulfilling years of service, I took early retirement on 15th April 1998—carrying with me a lifetime of memories, love, and gratitude.
ICB — My Second Home
ICB was far more than just a workplace for me—it was truly my second home. Teaching young children was not merely my profession; it was my passion, my purpose, and my joy. Every single day in the classroom felt like a blessing.
I had the honour of nurturing countless young learners and guiding them through their very first steps in education—from holding their pencils for the first time, forming their first letters, learning how to read and write, to watching their confidence bloom.
Each small achievement brought me immense happiness and pride.
Subjects Taught with Love & Patience
Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to teach a wide range of subjects, including:
Art & Handwork
Urdu
Mathematics
Social Studies
Islamiat
English
I always believed in teaching with patience, kindness, sincerity, and compassion—values I hoped my students would always feel and remember.
Leadership Beyond the Classroom
Beyond academics, I remained deeply involved in co-curricular and character-building activities. After receiving formal training in the Girls Guide Program, I was honoured to serve as the In-Charge of the Shaheen Scouts Club at ICB.
I guided students in various creative and cultural activities including:
Tableaus
Singing competitions
Milad gatherings
School functions and programs
Helping children express their talents, build confidence, and stand proudly before an audience was among the most rewarding experiences of my life.
The Greatest Reward of My Life
My students, their families, and my colleagues made my journey truly meaningful. I remain deeply thankful for the respect, love, and affection I received throughout my career.
Today, as I look back, my heart fills with profound happiness and gratitude to see so many of my former students now:
Highly educated
Successful professionals
Spread across the world
Serving humanity in countless ways
Knowing that I played even a small role in their early learning brings me immense peace and contentment.
A Lifetime of Gratitude
The memories, relationships, and lessons of ICB will forever remain close to my heart. I sincerely consider my years of service at ICB among the greatest blessings of my life.
