Sir Naseem ul Hassnain Naqvi (Late)

Islamiat Teacher

Prof. Syed Naseem ul Hassnain Naqvi (Late)

A Teacher, A Mentor, A Father Figure — Forever in the Hearts of ICBians

A Life of Simplicity, Sincerity, and Love for Students

There are teachers who instruct, and then there are those who touch souls — Prof. Syed Naseem ul Hassnain Naqvi belonged to the latter kind.
What set him apart was not only his mastery of knowledge but his extraordinary simplicity and his candid, affectionate bond with students.

He treated every student as if they were part of his own family. His humble demeanor, ever-smiling face, and gentle words created a comfort zone around him — students felt free to approach him with their problems, whether academic or personal.
He was a father figure in the truest sense — protective, wise, and endlessly patient. Yet at the same time, he had the rare ability to be a true friend to his students. He laughed with them, guided them, corrected them with compassion, and celebrated their successes as his own.

To many ICBians, Sir Naqvi was not merely a teacher; he was the embodiment of kindness and moral strength. His very presence exuded calmness and sincerity — qualities that left a lifelong impression on all who had the privilege to know him.

Early Life and Education

Born on 5th December 1941, in the serene town of Pakki Shah Mardan, District Mianwali, Syed Naseem ul Hassnain Naqvi grew up in an environment rooted in faith, humility, and scholarship.
From an early age, he showed a deep love for learning and an innate curiosity about the world around him. These qualities led him to pursue higher education at the University of the Punjab, where he earned his Master’s degree in Islamic Studies (1966).

His academic background combined deep classical scholarship with an appreciation for modern intellectual thought — a combination that later defined his teaching philosophy. He believed that true understanding of Islam lay in balancing reason with revelation, and that education was the key to human progress and moral enlightenment.

A Distinguished Career in Education

Prof. Naqvi began his noble teaching journey on 3rd May 1975 at Islamabad Model School — now known as Islamabad College for Boys (ICB). From the moment he entered the classroom, his students felt they were in the company of someone extraordinary — a man who not only taught but inspired.

For more than two and a half decades, he served the cause of education with dedication, devotion, and dignity. His career at ICB became a golden chapter in the institution’s history. Later, in 1996, he was transferred to Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) F-8/4, where he continued to serve with the same passion and integrity until his retirement in 2001 as Head of the Department of Islamic Studies.

His professional journey reflected his unwavering belief that education is both a sacred duty and a lifelong mission. He often reminded his students that the purpose of knowledge is not merely success, but service to humanity.

Scholarship and Teaching Philosophy

Prof. Naqvi’s classroom was a space of enlightenment — where intellect met compassion.
His lessons on Islamic Studies went far beyond rote learning; they were rich with context, reflection, and relevance to modern life. He beautifully combined classical Islamic wisdom with contemporary scientific thought, presenting Islam as a faith that embraces reason, knowledge, and universal harmony.

His teaching style was defined by clarity, warmth, and engagement. He encouraged questions, valued dialogue, and treated every student’s curiosity with respect. To him, teaching was not about authority — it was about connection and awakening.
Students often recalled how his calm voice and gentle manner could turn a complex topic into a meaningful life lesson. For them, his lectures were not just academic — they were spiritual experiences.

A House Master and Beyond — The Complete Educator

Beyond the classroom, Sir Naqvi was a dynamic and active presence in student life. As House Master, he believed that education must shape the mind, the body, and the character alike.

He took a personal interest in organizing sports events, debates, cultural programs, and educational tours. His enthusiasm for student trips to Murree, Nathiagali, Bhurban, and other northern regions of Pakistan became legendary among ICBians. These trips were not mere excursions — they were opportunities for students to learn teamwork, discipline, and appreciation for nature.

His holistic approach to education reflected his vision that true learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. He wanted his students to grow into well-rounded, confident, and morally upright individuals.

Recognition and Honors

Over the span of his career, Prof. Naqvi earned numerous certificates of excellence, merit awards, and trophies — each a testament to his tireless service, dedication, and educational brilliance.
However, for him, the greatest reward was not in accolades but in the love and respect of his students.
He often said that the real measure of a teacher’s success lies in the hearts of those he has taught — and in that sense, his legacy is immeasurable.

Retirement and Passing

After a lifetime devoted to nurturing young minds, Prof. Syed Naseem ul Hassnain Naqvi retired honorably in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and inspiration. Even in retirement, he remained intellectually active, continuing to study, write, and mentor.

In 2019, after a brief illness, this kind and gentle soul departed from this world, leaving countless hearts mourning his loss. He was laid to rest in his beloved hometown, Pakki Shah Mardan, District Mianwali — the same land that gave birth to his journey of light.

Though he is no longer with us, his memory continues to live on — in the prayers of his students, the respect of his colleagues, and the proud heritage of ICB.

Legacy — The Teacher Who Became Family

To this day, ICBians remember Sir Naqvi not just as a brilliant scholar or teacher, but as a genuine human being — humble, loving, and profoundly wise.
He was the teacher who would listen when no one else had time, the mentor who guided without judgment, and the friend who made every student feel valued.

His life reminds us that the true greatness of a teacher lies not in titles or positions, but in the hearts he touches.
For those who sat in his classroom or walked beside him in the corridors of ICB, Prof. Syed Naseem ul Hassnain Naqvi will forever remain a symbol of grace, humanity, and timeless mentorship.
