His name is etched in golden letters in the annals of Pakistan’s educational history—not just for his knowledge, but for the values he upheld, the lives he transformed, and the generations he prepared for the future. His entire life’s journey is not merely that of a teacher, but of a nation-builder, a mentor of leaders, and a guardian of principles.

For over three decades, Prof. Malik dedicated every ounce of his energy, wisdom, and love to the sacred mission of education. His classrooms were sanctuaries of discipline, inspiration, and enlightenment. He was never content with simply teaching lessons—he shaped character, nurtured intellect, and instilled purpose. In every institution he served, from bustling campuses to administrative offices, he brought a rare blend of grace, dignity, and unmatched leadership.

From the corridors of Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) to the leadership desks of Model Colleges, Prof. Malik’s presence was transformative. Wherever he went, excellence followed. His students, many of whom today hold senior positions in the judiciary, military, civil service, academia, and the private sector, recall him not just as a teacher, but as a moral compass, a disciplinarian with a heart, and a living embodiment of integrity.

What truly sets him apart is the depth of respect he commands across generations. Students from the 1970s still speak of him with reverence, while those he taught in the 2000s continue to seek his advice and blessings. Humble Beginnings, Glorious Journey

Date of Birth: October 8, 1945
Place of Birth: Uchhali, Soon Valley, District Khushab

Born in the serene valley of Uchhali in Soon Sakesar, Prof. Malik’s early years were rooted in simplicity and discipline. He began his education at the village school, but destiny had much more in store for him. His brilliance shone early, earning him a place at the prestigious PAF Public School, Sargodha through a competitive exam held across both East and West Pakistan—a remarkable feat of its time.

At PAF Sargodha, he was mentored by none other than Mr. H. Catchpole, one of the most revered educationists of the subcontinent, whose values and guidance helped shape Prof. Malik’s lifelong dedication to teaching.

He later earned his Master’s degree in English and Bachelor of Education from the University of the Punjab, marking the academic foundation of an inspiring teaching career.

A Towering Figure in Pakistan’s Education Sector

Prof. Malik’s professional journey spanned some of Pakistan’s finest institutions. Before arriving in Islamabad, he honed his skills at Cantt. Public Schools in Kharian and Mangla, and Divisional Public School, Lyallpur (now Faisalabad). However, it was his decades-long association with the Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) and Islamabad Model Colleges that truly made him a legend in the capital’s academic circles.

Notable Positions Held:

  • Esteemed English Teacher at ICB (late 1970s–mid-1980s)

  • Head of English Department, ICB

  • Founding Vice Principal, IMCB F-7/3

  • Principal, IMCB F-7/3, IMCB F-8/4, and ICB (2001–2004)

  • Director of Model Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education

  • Retired in 2006 from IMCB F-8/4

His tenure at ICB remains one of the most celebrated periods in the college’s history. Under his dynamic leadership, the college witnessed a golden era of academic discipline, intellectual growth, and moral development.

Transformative Leadership, Lasting Impact

Prof. Malik’s influence as a leader went far beyond administrative responsibilities. He elevated each institution he led through personal involvement, academic rigor, and principled governance. Under his stewardship:

  • A student of IMCB F-7/3 secured first position in the Federal Board’s FSc exam.

  • ICB achieved historic FSc and Matric results, including a top position in the General Science group.

  • IMCB F-8/4 recorded its highest-ever FSc result, topping the entire Islamabad region.

His tenure as Director of Model Colleges was equally transformative. He:

  • Regularized long-standing temporary staff positions

  • Resolved complex seniority and promotion issues

  • Brought clarity and fairness to administrative decisions, leaving behind a clean record free of legal challenges

  • Actively addressed long-neglected disciplinary and staffing issues

  • Elevated the Director’s role from symbolic to strategic

Mentor to Leaders, Role Model to Thousands

Prof. Malik has had the profound honour of teaching and mentoring individuals who later rose to great prominence, including:

  • Justice Athar Minallah (Former Chief Justice, Islamabad High Court)

  • Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar

  • IG Sultan Azam Taimuri

  • Secretaries Shoaib Siddiqui & Mohyuddin Wani

  • Dr. Adil Najam

  • Dr. Asir Ajmal, Dr. Rauf Niazi, and Dr. Atif Inam Shami

Continued Service Beyond Retirement

Even after his formal retirement in 2006, Prof. Malik’s commitment to education remained unwavering. He served for five years as a Visiting Professor at COMSATS University, teaching Business Communication, Report Writing, and Communication Skills to students of BBA, BSBA, and Engineering programs. His students from COMSATS today serve in leadership roles across Pakistan and around the world.
