There are teachers who teach lessons, and then there are teachers who shape lives. Sir Rana Saghir Ahmed Khan stands tall among the latter — a man whose presence at Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) has spanned generations, inspiring students, guiding young minds, and becoming a living emblem of dedication and grace.

Now at the age of 81, Sir Saghir continues to shine with the same warmth, energy, and intellectual spark that defined his decades of service. Even today, he is seen participating in ICB gatherings with unmatched enthusiasm — his laughter, wit, and affectionate nature instantly bringing back memories for his students, many of whom are now well into their 50s and 60s.

🏆 House Master and Beyond — A Symbol of Excellence

As House Master, Sir Saghir’s leadership shone brightly. His students consistently achieved outstanding academic results at both the secondary and higher secondary levels, earning him merit certificates and cash awards — tangible recognition of his tireless commitment and effective teaching. But for him, the true reward was always the success and respect of his students.

👨‍🏫 Teacher, Proctor, and Guardian

Throughout his career, Sir Saghir wore many hats with dignity — Chief Proctor, First Class Teacher of B.Sc., Staff Secretary, and ultimately, Head of the Department of English. In every role, he was known for his fairness, compassion, and unshakeable integrity. His classroom was not just a place of grammar and literature — it was a space where young minds were molded into thinkers and gentlemen.

🎓 The Final Chapter of Service — But Not of Influence

On 20th January 2004, after more than two and a half decades of service, Sir Saghir retired as Associate Professor and Vice Principal of IMCB F-7/3, Islamabad. But retirement didn’t mark the end of his journey — it only gave him more time to reconnect with his beloved ICB family.

Even today, he is a cherished guest at ICB reunions and student gatherings, where generations of ICBians greet him with love and admiration. His sharp memory, gentle humor, and genuine affection make every interaction unforgettable.

After his retirement he has served as the Head of the English Department at the Girls Branch of Divisional Public School and College, Rawalpindi, and later at the National Textile Institute, Islamabad. With an enduring passion for education, he continues to mentor aspiring civil servants through his CSS classes, where his guidance has consistently produced outstanding results. Many of his students have gone on to serve in prestigious cadres, including the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service, and Foreign Service.
